• About McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary

A wildlife rehabilitation facility in West Palm Beach, Florida, McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary has operated since 1990. The facility takes in injured local animals and releases them back into the wild whenever possible, in addition to providing a permanent home to more than 200 native and exotic animals. Many of McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary’s residents were confiscated from their owners due to abuse or illegal possession, while others were owner surrenders.

A registered charitable organization, McCarthy’s offers guided tours to support the substantial costs of caring for exotic animals. Visitors can observe large cats such as lions, tigers, and leopards, along with numerous smaller reptile and mammal species. Strongly committed to conservation and education, the facility operates educational programming that reaches 8,000 students each year.

Owner Mark McCarthy draws on more than five decades of experience with animals to oversee operations. In addition to serving as a reptile keeper at the venom research lab the Miami Serpentarium, Parrot Jungle and other wildlife facilities he has studied animals throughout the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, and Tanzania.
